West Ottawa Cultural Technological Environmental Exchange
The Cultural Technological Environmental Exchange, CTEE, is a philanthropic organization created by students at West Ottawa High School in Holland, Michigan. Its primary purpose is to provide students in third world countries access to the tools of modern technology.
Through involvement in the CTEE, West Ottawa students are offered the opportunity to be responsible, involved citizens of a global community. CTEE programs promote the use of complex thinking and innovation to solve problems in a real-world context.
Inspired by the principle,"Think Globally, Act Locally," and seeking a mechanism to act globally as well, CTEE volunteers developed a program that would provide students and local businesses the opportunity to positively impact the lives of students a world away. Participation in the CTEE allows all to be directly involved in meaningful service to an international community.
The primary focus of CTEE efforts overseas is the West African country of Cameroon. The Republic of Cameroon was selected based upon an ongoing relationship between CTEE advisor, Mr. Mike Jaeger, and organizations in Cameroon, including Cameroon’s Ministry of Education, Longla Comprehensive College, and The United States Peace Corps.
